Clay bar along with a lubricant will help to lift embedded contamination from the paint, this is an important step as it will help to prevent these contaminants from getting stuck in your pad as you polish. Potentially, if these particles get stuck in your polish pad, they may cause scratches as you polish making the paint correction process more difficult.
